Fifteen of SNHAC’s U20 and U17 athletes travelled to the Stonex Stadium, Hendon on Sunday for the last Youth Development Match of the season. The Club were up against teams from Shaftesbury Barnet Harriers, Hillingdon, and composite teams from Harrow/Dacorum & Tring and Team West London. Wins for the U17’s came from Jess Astill in the 300m 41.76, William Galliford in the 1500m 4.25.75 and Aimie Taylor in the pole vault 3m05. Sarah Movromoustakis 100m, Amelie Hobbs 3000m. Kachi Dike Javelin, Jamie Joseph 100m/200m Isaac Whitten 800m/ HJ and Jake Sutton 400H made up the U17 team.

U20’s Libby Taylor and Georgia Shephard Gazely won the Hammer 43m75 and Javelin 34m01 respectively, Ed Laws set another personal in the 400H wining in 55.10, while Joel Evans picked up points winning the B string 200m in 22.72. Jacob Kinchin Smith 100/200m and Alex Pickard 100m made up the U20 team.

Race of the day was the U20 4x100m relay where Jacob, Ed and Joel were joined by U17 Jamie Joseph. A thrilling race saw SNHAC emerge victorious in 44.46 to a Shaftesbury Barnet’s Squad who finished in 44.70. A great way to end the day.

Monday 30th August 2021

Three Stevenage and North Herts U15 and U17 athletes were in action at Kingston upon Thames at the SEAA Championships on the 21st and 22nd August. Saturday saw U15 Jamie Timms in action. 12.64 in the heats of the 80H saw him reach the final where he finished in 7th with a time of 12.78. A PB of 42m37 in the Javelin saw him finish in 8th. Sunday saw Jamie joined by Bobby Pitman in the long jump where both boys jumped PBs. Jamie finished 8th with 5m30 and Bobby was 9th with 5m10. Bobby was involved in the Discus final where a PB throw of 36m76 secured the silver medal. U17 Jamie Joseph recorded a time of 24.34 in his heat of the 200m.

Forty Stevenage and North Herts youngsters were in action at Ridlins Stadium on Sunday against teams from Bedford, Peterborough, Cambridge, West Suffolk and Bedfordshire Lions (a composite team from the other Bedfordshire Clubs). The seven U13 boys collected eight A and B string wins plus the relay between them. Joshua Wright had a great day, winning 100m, 200m and Long Jump - 13.76, 29.16 and 4m55, Owen Fairey won the Shot 8m21 and Nathaniel Emeje the Discus -17m30. Owen, Jake Trevelyan and Harry Thompson had B string wins in the 100m, 200m and 800m. Joshua, Owen, Jake and Fred Dilley won the 4x100m relay in 57.37

In the U13 Girls Events there were B string wins in the 800m – Eleanor Roberts and 70m Hurdles – Lauren Coles.

The U15 boys had success in the 800m Callum Fairey 2.11.62, Bobby Pitman Pole Vault and Discus 2m20 and 30m74, Sam Buss Hammer 25m39, while Kyle Gall Gray won the B 200m.

Lucy Baverstock won the U15 girls Pole Vault 2m55 (=6th on National Rankings) and Long Jump 5m09 and Lily Cotter won in the U15 Girls Discus 19m80.

Other notable performances came from U17’s Jake Sutton running a personal best for second in the 100m Hurdles, Sara Mavro with 13.27PB for second in the 100m, Shanumi Akinfenwa with a High Jump PB of 1m65 (=9th on National Rankings) and Rebecca Scott second in the Triple Jump.

Team Managers Libby and Aimie Taylor were delighted with the team’s performance and are looking forward to the last match at Cambridge on the 12th September.

Thirteen Stevenage and North Herts athletes were in action at Westminster Lodge, St Albans on Saturday. Returning to competition for the first time since 2016, thrower George Marvel picked up the 7.26k hammer and threw a Senior Club record in the sixth round. The record by Luigi Bellu of 50m56 had stood since 1999. George plans further competitions this year and his throw of 51m44 is unlikely to be the record for very long. Vet athlete Steve Feely won the B string Hammer. Other notable performances saw Libby Taylor win the women’s hammer with 44m15 and Ed Laws the 400H. Returning from university to pick up a pole competitively for the first time since 2019 Michael Stocker cleared 3m50 for second place. Nile Odejimi-Riley and Alex Pickard ran the 100m in 11.7 and 12.4 respectively. Alex was joined by Ed, Michael and Dylan Baines n the 4x100m Relay finishing third in 46.4. Adam Searle ran the 5000m and U17 Amelie Hobbs the 3000m in 15.59.9 and 12.39.6. U17 Sara Mavromoustakis 100m, Delia Previtali high jump and U20 Clare Hudson 400H were also in action
