This year's Midweek 10k road running league got underway with a race from starting and finishing from our track at Ridlins. Over 500 runners took part with the course heading out along Broadhall Way to the foorball ground and then through the showground before a loop at the lakes allowed runners to sweep round and head for home. 16 SNHAC runners took park, the largest number for some years.

The club filled all 3 top places in the U20 men's category with Isaac Whitten first in 35 minutes 43 seconds (also 5th overall in division 3). Harrison Lund was second in 46.43 (87th overall) and Alex Pickard 3rd (50 minutes , 104th overall). In the U20 women Amelie Hobbs won in 44.03 (7th overall).

Isaac led the men's team home overall, followed by Chris Westcott who was also the winner in the V50 category (8th overall, 36.05). Next in was Adam Searle (39 minutes, 24th overall). Then it was Paul Spicer (41.31, 44th), Andy Robson (42.29, 52nd), Paul Murphy (44.29, 61st), Trevor Mason (47.53, 93rd), Phil Turner (52.54, 121st), Paul Pickard (54.05, 128th) and Bob Whitten (65.44, 140th).

For the women Amelie was joined by Alex Gates (45.55, 16th), Rebecca Pickard (51.00, 40th) and Colette Law (65.44, 74th). Overall the combined team came 7th.

As we were co-hosting the race a special thank you must go to those who gave up their evening to help marshal or manage the finish tunnel. These events just wouldn't be possible without you.

The next race is in Harpenden on Tuesday 6th June and we hope to see a good number of SNHAC runners in action again!

Up against three of the largest Clubs in the east, eighty SNHAC/HAWCS members were in action at Stevenage on Sunday. The team was supported by 35 of the Clubs Officials, Volunteers, Committee Members were supported by willing parents who ensured things ran smoothly. Providing photo finish for an EYAL League Match (generally reserved for finals only) was much appreciated by all the Clubs.
Wins were difficult to come by and Club members fought hard for every point.
U13 Girl Riley McNally came third in the 100m 14.29 and Priscilla Tebenderana won the B in 14.46. U15 Rose Cook was fifth in the 100m 13.5 with Emily Rapley first B 13.19. There was a win in U17 pole vault competition from U15 Abigail Tong, clearing 2m10.
U15 Milan Snarskis won the Hammer 33m28. U17 Edward Turner won his hammer competition 28m31 and there were B string wins for Ted Starkins 400m and Jack Thompson 800m.
Performance of the day came from U17 Jamie Timms who finished second in a high-class Javelin competition with a throw of 49m24 breaking the Clubs age group Javelin record.
which had stood since 2015.
We finished fourth with Chelmsford winning the match.
Team managers Melissa and Libby were delighted with the team’s performance and are looking forward to the next match at Peterborough on the 2nd July.

Twelve SAL athletes travelled to St Ives on Saturday for the first SAL Match of the season. With a depleted team and lots of blanks on the team sheet, the magnificent dozen filled every event possible and scrapped for every place/point. Team manager Rhys Samuels had an epic 519 mile journey (rail strikes) to get to and from St Ives and a last minute dash by time keeper Nick Ward ensured the Club gained full points for Officials. Alan Ephgrave starting an epic three days as lead Field (EYAL Sunday and Vets Monday) with Bob Whitten, Phil and Julie Laws, Alison Barber and Libby Taylor making up the Field Team and Rhona Foster as Track Judge.
Leading the quest for points Dylan Baines did 6 events winning B string 110H and TJ after gashing a leg open with his spikes while high jumping where he finished second clearing 1m70. He was also second in the LJ with 6m21 and was part of the winning 4x100m team 46.6 (with Ed, Jacob and Rhys), and took part in the SP. Jacob Kinchin-Smith U20 did 4 events, second in the 200m 22.3, 400m 51.4 and TJ 11m82. Ed Laws U20 won the 110H 17.3, was second in the 400H and won the B long jump. Rhys competed in the 100m, 200m and SP, Isaac Whitten U20 in the 400m and HJ and Jake Anderson in the 1500m.
Annabel Howells U20 won the 400m 61.2. Libby Taylor won the HT 45m48, was second in the DT 28m05 and third in shot and second in B Javelin. Vet Sandra Reed won the B TJ and competed in the 100m, 200m and DT. U20 Kachi Dike U20 was second in A TJ, having never competed at the event 8m74, third in the A Javelin and won the B 200 and SP. Vet Chris Feely competed in the 400m, 800m and 2k steeple chase and Martina Barber competed in the 100m and LJ.

Competing at the Loughborough International, U20 Jess Astill was promoted to the GB senior team for her first senior vest. She came 6th in the 400m with a season’s best of 55.29. T47 Rebecca Scott was also in action coining 4th in her 100m race in 14.03

Twenty-Eight Club members took part in County Championships over the weekend. Competing in the Hertfordshire Championships at Watford there were wins for U13 Riley McNally in the 100/200m 14.7 and 29.25, U15 Rosie Cook in the 100 13.49, Edythe Oughton in the PV 2m Enid Whitten in the SP, DT and HT 9m54, 22m78 and 26m48. U20 Jessica Astill won the 200m 25.18 and set a CBP in the 400m running 55.53. U15 Horacio De-Vyott won the 300m 39.12, Zachary Czeck the HT 38m and senior man Tim Saunders Mullins won his HT. There were second place finishes for U13 Priscilla Tibenderana 100m, U15 Abigail Tonge PV, U15 Milan Snarskis HT, U17 Tom Redfern 400m, U20 Jacob Kinchin Smith 100m, William Galliford 800m and Ed Laws 400H. Third place finishes came from U15 Eleanor Roberts PV and U20 Jamie Joseph 100m.
In the Bedfordshire County Championships, which also took place at Watford, U20 Annabel Howells won the 200m and 400m 26.29 and 59.13 while U15 Georgia Sutcliffe was second in the 300m.
