County Champs Success for SNHAC Athletes

Two and a half months later than usual the Hertfordshire County Track and Field Championships took place at Watford over the weekend. Sixteen Stevenage and North Herts A.C. athletes were in action over the weekend, recording 15 first place performances between them. The first event on Saturday morning saw Shannon Rapacchi jump a personal best to win the Senior Women’s pole vault with a clearance of 3m45, other pole vault gold medals came from U17 Aimie Taylor and U15 Bobby Pitman, U15 Lucy Baverstock Jumped a personal best of 2m40 for silver. U20 Ed Laws won all three of his events starting with a personal best in the 110m Hurdles 15.49 on Saturday and first thing Sunday morning a 57.82 400m Hurdles was followed by 1m71 high jump. The Hammer competition on Saturday saw U20 Libby Taylor extend her Club Age Group Record with a 47m78 throw. U15 Samuel Buss won his hammer competition with 30m27. Other U20 athletes competing included Maddie Waite who ran a personal best for the bronze in the 400 hurdles 69.62, winning the high jump and Nile Odejimi-Riley who had to withdraw with injury when in second place in the triple jump. U17 Jessica Astill won her first ever 400m with a time of 58.33. Shanumi Akinfenwa won the high jump clearing 1m60, Jamie Joseph won the 200m in 23.27 and was second in the 100m 11.48. U15 Bobby Pitman completed his own version of a Pentathlon over the weekend, having won the pole vault he went on to win the Discus 32m80 and finished Saturday with a bronze in the 80m hurdles. Sunday’s timetable wasn’t kind as the 200m and long jump were timetabled for the same time. He was rewarded with a personal best in the 200m and a bronze Medal in the long jump. Imogen Rose ran 2.36.29 for 4th place in the 800m. The two U13 athletes both won their events Abigail Tonge the 70m hurdles and Enid Whitten the shot, Abigail also brought home a silver medal in the high jump.
