On a warm evening with the threat of rain in the air 15 of Stevenage and North Herts athletes made the short trip to Harlow for the third race in division 2 of the Scotts Travel 10k league.
For the third race in a row Adam Mason led the team home coming 21st in a time of 38.30 mins. Having missed race 2 Jay Papa returned with a time of 40.51 and 38 th place. Jack Davidson, racing for the first time this season was next through in 43.37 minutes, 69 th place. Fourth through was Charlie Mead , 45.40 mins and 89th place.
The first of the vets to cross the line was debutee Mark Grayson in a time of 45.41, 91st overall and 19th vet.
He was soon followed by Trevor Mason (46 minutes and 97th), Paul Pickard (46.56 mins, 107th), Matthews Mason (48.08, 117th) and Tony Carolan (48.57, 128th). Also scoring the team valuable points were Graham Spicer (57.16, 162nd) and Mark Pinney (62.42, 168th).
The women’s team was depleted by injury but Charlotte Astill ran a good race to finish 24th in 48.58 minutes. Erica Grayson clocked a time of 58.42 for 74th and Cathy Reed was 90th in 66.39.
Overall there were 262 finishers. The strong performances were enough to see the club finish 6 th overall and moved them up to 6th place overall in the league. With just one scoring race to go the team look set to finish in a stronger position than last year. They will be hoping for a good turn out for race 4 in Hitchin in 2 weeks time.
