On a perfect evening for running fifteen SNHAC athletes made the trip across to Bishops Stortford for the first Scotts Travel Midweek League Race of 2017. Having finished in the top half of the league table last year SNHAC find themselves in the new division two this year alongside 5 road running clubs.
Adam Mason’s time of 38.03 was quick enough to see him home first for the club in 27th place. Next man home was Paul Spicer in 42.15 and 65th place. Leading the veteran men home was Trevor Mason (45.28, 92nd), with Martin Reed not far behind (46.07, 97th). Tony Carolan was next over the line in 47.11 (112th), with Paul Pickard two places behind (47.27, 114th). The rest of the Men’s team consisted of Mark Grayson (132nd, 49.46), Graham Spicer (152nd, 53.53) and Mark Pinney (172nd , 63.54).
Helen Cairns led the women home in a time of 46.30 (17tth place). The rest of the team was Lisa Barber (76th, 55.00), Georgia Reed (83rd, 56.09), Julie Mason (95th, 57.49), Hayley Duke (107th, 59.32) and Cathy Reed (114th, 60.55).
Overall, the team finished in 6th place and are now looking forward to race 2 in Stevenage next week (May 24th).
